Shrimp Toast

This recipe is honestly meant for about 4 servings, but not going to lie; I could eat it all by myself…. ITS THAT DELICIOUS. I created an open faced shrimp toast inspired by the Chinese cuisine DIM SUM. I am a huge fan of shrimp Sui mai and wanted to make something that reminded me of that dish! This recipe is not authentic by any means, but is sure one to satisfy those cravings and is so dang TASTY. The texture is to die for, trust me on this one!

What you’ll need:

Servings: 3-4

  • 1lb shrimp

  • 3 tsps mayonnaise

  • 1-2 tsps sriracha (depends on spice level)

  • 1 tsp ponzu

  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil

  • salt

  • black pepper

  • 2-4 green onion stalks

  • furikake

  • bread of choice (I used sourdough)

  • Japanese kewpie mayonnaise

Instructions:

  1. Prep shrimp- rinse, dry, remove shell, tail, and devein.

-Taking one shrimp at a time, use a cleaver to smack shrimp until shrimp breaks down. Chop into small pieces. Keep repeating until there are no more shrimp.

-Keep chopping down shrimp until it turns into a paste.

-Transfer shrimp paste to a mixing bowl

-Season with mayonnaise, sriracha, ponzu, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper.

-Chop up green onions and add to mixing bowl.

    -Combine well and set aside.

  2. Grab a slice of bread and layer a few heaping spoonfuls of shrimp paste mixture and spread evenly.

  3. Air fry at 330 for about 7 minutes or until shrimp is cooked though and has a nice golden crust on top.

  4. Garnish with Japanese mayonnaise and furikake.

  5. Enjoy right away!
