Pizza Toast

Thank you Hailey Bieber for this amazing idea! When I saw this recipe pop up on my for you pages, I HAD TO RECREATE IT, BUT MY WAY. The crisp and flavor of sourdough mashed up with the lemon dressed heirloom tomatoes are a hit! I then used my favorite marinara, crisped up some thick slices of bacon, and topped with fresh pineapple for a sweet kick…… one word; IMMACULATE. Not to mention, BURRATA cheese is a must and cannot be substituted. Its a really fresh and creamy cheese that gives a very delicate and unique mouthfeel when consumed! Hailey uses a truffle oil for an umami the flavor, but I decided to keep it sweet and salty with the bacon and pineapple! You must add this to your must-try list!!

What you’ll need:

Servings 3

  • 3 slices sourdough bread

  • mayonnaise

  • chili onion crunch oil

  • 8oz burrata cheese

  • 1-2 heirloom tomatoes

  • 1 small lemon

  • salt

  • oregano

  • marinara

  • parmesan cheese

  • bacon

  • pineapple

  • basil

Instructions:

  1. Start off by spreading a thin layer of mayonnaise on each sourdough slice on both sides.

-TIP: mayonnaise gives bread a nice golden color and crisp texture when used for toasting. It also has a high smoking point, which means less chance of burning.

  2. Toast each side of bread on skillet pan. Use medium-high heat and watch toast carefully to avoid burning. Remove from heat once golden and crisp on both sides. Set aside.

  3. To toasted bread, spread a thin layer of chili onion crunch oil. (Can be substituted with any kind of chili oil).

  4. Gently break open burrata “balls” and spread evenly over all 3 slices of bread.

  5. Slice tomatoes slices into 1/2 in rounds and set them on flat dish. Season tomatoes by squeezing fresh lemon juice over them and salt to taste,

  6. Place dressed tomatoes over toast on top of burrata

  7. Season with oregano on top of tomatoes

  8. Bake in the oven at 375 until cheese is melted and gooey. Remove from oven and transfer to serving dish.

-While bread in oven warm up marinara

  9. To a medium-hot skillet, warm up about 1/3 cup marinara

  10. Once marinara is warmed though, add a few tablespoons over each slice

  11. Grate fresh parmesan right on top

  12. Add a slice of cooked crisp bacon on each slice

  13. Add a few small chopped pieces of fresh pineapple

  14. Add fresh basil leaves on each bread slice

  15. Grate move fresh parmesan on top

  16. Enjoy right away! (Be careful when eating, a little messy, but WORTH IT)
