Ground Turkey Goldfish Nuggets

I was hanging out with my friends Johnny and Karlie the other weekend and as I was leaving they handed me this brand new bag of unlimited edition Starwars Goldfish; You guys know Im a sucker for limited edition anything. I knew I had to recreate it into a dish and dedicate it to them lol ! I came up with this recipe on a whim and based it off what I already had in my fridge/ pantry and it definitely was a fun challenge. Nonetheless, the Goldfish nuggets actually came out pretty freaking delicious, and I honestly would make them again! (They’re also jammed packed with protein, so its a great healthy alternative to “other” nuggets). Not to mention, the flavors go well together, and the CRUNCH was insane!

What you’ll need:

Servings: 3

  • 1.5 lbs ground turkey

  • 6.6 oz bag of Goldfish cheese crackers

  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt

  • 1/4 tsp paprika

  • 1/4 tsp dried rosemary

  • 1/4 tsp cumin

  • 1/4 tsp fennel

  • 1/8 tsp crushed red pepper

  • black pepper

  • 1 egg

  • marinara

  • ketchup

  • fresh basil

  • fresh parmesan

  • ziplock sandwich bag

Instructions:

  1. Prep ground turkey

-Remove ground turkey from package and transfer to a mixing bowl.

-Season with garlic salt, paprika, dried rosemary, cumin, fennel, crushed rep pepper, black pepper , and one whole egg; Mix well and set aside.

  2. Prep Goldfish crackers

-Open bag of crackers and transfer into a ziplock baggie or blender. If using ziplock baggie , close baggie and crush goldfish crackers until they turn into coarse crumbs. (I used a large cleaver on its side to break up the crackers).

*If using a blender, pulse in spurts to make sure goldfish crackers don’t crush too much. You want it to be coarse crumbs, not sand-like.

  3. Reserve 1/4 cup of crushed goldfish, and add the rest to a shallow dish.

  4. Add the reserved 1/4 cup of crushed goldfish crumbs directly into our ground turkey mixture. Combine well until ground turkey turns into a paste like consistency. Set aside.

  5. Assemble nuggets

-Grab a small handful of turkey mixture and gently rotate into a ball shape with your hands.

-Gentley pat ball down until it turns into a “patty” or nugget shape

-Press nugget into golffish crumbs. Coat on both sides. Set aside .

-Repeat until all nuggets are formed and coated in goldfish.

*Coat your airfryer well with olive oil/avocado oil spray to avoid sticking

  6. Airfry nuggets in one single layer at 400F for about 10 minutes or until internal temp of turkey is 165F. (No need to flip).

  7. Prepare the rest of recipe while nuggets are air frying:

  8. Prepare sauce by mixing marinara (I used Rao’s) and ketchup.

  9. Rinse and pat dry basil. Cut into small slices.

  10. Once nuggets are cooked through, transfer to a serving dish with dipping sauce on the side.

  11. Garnish with basil and freshly grated parmesan

  12. ENJOY !
