Dynamite Mussels

These mussels are the perfect game day appetizer. They are super easy to make in less than 15-20 minutes. The flavors are so delicious and pair so well with the savory seafood, mussels. The masago is a must as it adds a nice pop of texture and also sweetness. Just a fair warning, these are highly addicting and you’re going to find yourself craving them weekly. PS: the processed cheese CANNOT be substituted !!!

What you’ll need:

  • 16oz mussels

  • 1/4 cup kewpie mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup sriracha

  • ponzu

  • sesame oil

  • masago

  • furikake or green onions

  • processed “Singles” cheese

Instructions:

  1. Start of by cleaning mussels and submerging into water to remove any dirt

  2. Prepare sauce in mixing bowl by combining equal parts kewpie mayonnaise and sriracha

  3. To spicy mayo mixing bowl, add 1 tsp ponzu, 1 tsp sesame oil, and 1 T masago

  4. Chop green onions

  5. To your medium-hot bbq grill, line up mussels and add small amount of sauce just to coat top of mussel.

  6. Once mussel is halfway steamed though, discard excess liquid from shells and put small square of “singles” processed cheese on top

  7. Continue on the bbq grill until mussels are steamed though and cheese is melted

  8. Transfer mussels to serving tray and garnish with green onions, sriracha, and furikake

  9. Enjoy right away !
