Laab Lettuce Wraps

I know there’s a million ways to make this dish, but this is how I make it ! I also understand there’s a million ways to pronounce it— this is how I call it ! If you are new to asian cuisine and want to explore more of southeast asian flavors, this dish is for you. Its savory, sweet, tangy, and spicy— its so refreshing wrapped in lettuce for that nice crunch. If you try this, let me know you like it !

What you’ll need:

Servings: 3

  • 1.5 lbs ground turkey

  • salt

  • black pepper

  • chicken bouillon powder

  • 1 lime

  • honey

  • fish sauce

  • shallot

  • garlic

  • thai chili pepper

  • cilantro

  • mint

  • basil

  • toasted crushed peanuts (or toasted rice powder)

  • lettuce

Instructions:

  1. Start off by seasoning ground turkey with 2 tsps chicken bouillon powder, salt, and black pepper— mix to combine .

  2. Stir-fry ground turkey until fully cooked. Remove any excess liquid and transfer to a mixing bowl.

  3. Add in the juice of one lime, 1-2 tsps of honey, 2 tsps fish sauce, 1 small shallot diced, 3 pressed garlic cloves, 2-4 chopped Thai chili peppers, fresh chopped cilantro, basil, and mint. Mix well to combine and adjust seasonings to taste .

  4. Transfer laab to a serving dish and garnish with toasted crushed peanuts

  5. Wrap in lettuce or eat over rice to enjoy!
