Italian Herb Cheese Crusted Chicken

Even the most pickiest eaters will enjoy this one! The Italian herb cheese crust on the chicken is UNREAL. I had people ask if my crunch in the video was fake (lol), but I ensure you It is the real deal!! The flavors of the basil and oregano play so well together with the subtle spice and tang from the hot sauce and lemon! Best of all, its SOO easy to make and is easily a quick 30 minute meal!

What you’ll need:

Servings 2-4:

  • 2 large chicken breasts

  • 1 T lemon juice

  • 1 T Louisiana style hot sauce

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • salt and black pepper to taste

  • Parsley or green onions for garnish

  • 1/3 cup italian herb cheese crumbs (I used Whisps)

    *Substitute Italian herb cheese crumbs for :

  • 1/3 cup panko bread crumbs seasoned with .5 tsp each of the following: oregano, basil, rosemary, and thyme

Instructions:

  1. Start by chopping parsley and set aside for garnish later

  2. Prep chicken breast by rinsing and patting dry

  3. Slice chicken breasts in half (butterflied) and then in half again creating a chicken strip or tender

  4. Place chicken tenders mixing bowl and season with lemon juice, hot sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  5. To a shallow dish, add in cheese crumbs

  6. Take tenders one by one and place into cheese crumbs dish. Press down firmly to ensure crumbs stick to chicken.

  7. Repeat until all chicken is coated with cheese crumbs.

  8. Airfry chicken tenders at 390-400 for about 15-20 minutes. (Make sure internal chicken temp is 165 F before serving). Cooking time will vary depending on size of chicken tenders and your air fryer

  9. Once chicken is cooked, transfer to serving dish and garnish with fresh chopped parsley

  10. Enjoy over a salad, or eat as a snack with your fav dip !
