Basil Turkey Lettuce Wraps
I love a weeknight meal done in less than 30 minutes. This basil ground turkey recipe is super easy and delicious. Its bright, refreshing, and I love eating it as a lettuce wrap with cucumbers and pickled carrots on the side, but my family enjoys it the most over a hot bed or rice! Try this one out and be sure to tag me, I love foooood photos (:
Instructions:
Prep vegetables and herbs- Rinse and pat dry romaine lettuce, cucumber, and fresh basil.
Slice cucumber at an angle into 1/2 inch diagonal rounds
Remove basil leaves from stem. Discard stem.
Chop garlic cloves roughly— If you don’t like big chunks of garlic, mince finely .
Prepare ground turkey- Place ground turkey into a large mixing bowl and season with chopped garlic, fish sauce, dark mushroom soy sauce, oyster sauce, onion powder, and black pepper. Combine well.
*You can substitute regular soy sauce if you don’t have dark mushroom soy sauce
Heat up a large skillet pan on high heat and add about 1 tsp olive oil . Once pan heats up, add in ground turkey mixture and stir fry until cooked though or internal temperature reaches 165F.
Once ground turkey is completely cooked though, turn off heat and add half of your fresh basil. Stir to combine. Taste and adjust; Add salt if needed.
Transfer cooked ground turkey to a serving plate and garnish with the other half of your fresh basil. (If using thai chili pepper; finely mince and add for garnish here)
Enjoy in a lettuce wrap and serve with cucumbers.
*Ground turkey can be served over a bed of rice as well.
