Asian Green Bean Salad

This is the perfect bite— if you’ve never had an asian style salad before, its life changing. Its sweet, salty, spicy, and umami! You can enjoy as it, or as a side dish to some bbq chicken/ steak. If you try this, let me know how you like it (:

What you’ll need:

Servings: 3-6

  • 16oz long green beans (cut into 2 inch pieces)

  • 2 garlic cloves

  • 1 tsp dried salted baby shrimp

  • 8oz baby tomatoes

  • Thai chili peppers

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 tsp shrimp paste

  • 1 tsp crab paste

  • 1 tsp fermented fish paste (optional)

  • 2 tsps fish sauce

  • 1-2 limes

*Make sure all veggies are washed and pat dry.

  1. To your mortar, add dry ingredients; garlic, dried baby shrimp, Thai chili peppers, shrimp paste, crab paste, & sugar . Use your pestle to smash contents until baby shrimp are completely disintegrated and contents turn into a paste .

    2. Add in wet ingredients to mortar; fish sauce, fermented fish sauce,, sliced baby tomatoes, and lime juice . Mix well and gently break down baby tomatoes with pestle until everything is well combined.

    • squeeze lime juice and taste to adjust—

    3. Add in cut green beans in batches and incorporate into dressing by gently pounding down with pestle and mixing with a spoon with the other hand. Continue until alll green beans are combined.

    4. Transfer all contents to a serving dish and enjoy!
